Job Overview:

As an Underwriter, you will be responsible for analyzing and assessing group health insurance applications to determine their eligibility, pricing, and terms. You will work closely with brokers, clients, and the internal team to make informed underwriting decisions that align with company guidelines and regulatory requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Application Review: Evaluate group health insurance applications and supporting documentation, ensuring completeness and accuracy.

Risk Assessment: Assess the risk associated with each group, considering factors such as the group's size, industry, claims history, and demographics.

Pricing: Calculate premium rates based on underwriting guidelines, risk analysis, and company pricing models.

Policy Issuance: Prepare and issue insurance policies, certificates, and endorsements for approved groups.

Client Communication: Collaborate with brokers and clients to gather additional information, clarify underwriting requirements, and explain underwriting decisions.

Compliance: Ensure compliance with state and federal insurance regulations and company policies throughout the underwriting process.

Data Analysis: Utilize data analysis tools and software to assess risk and make data-driven underwriting decisions.

Renewals: Review and underwrite group health insurance policy renewals, adjusting terms and pricing as necessary.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions, correspondence, and communication with brokers and clients.
