I am working as a Field Application Engineer (FAE) at the semiconductor company. As a Field Application Engineer (Although job responsibilies might be little different with the same position title), I manage qualifications, and meet with customers to align and discuss on technical issues of our semiconductor products. FAEs are the engineers who needed the most to solve issues with customers and to engage strongly in sales and business of our products.

If you enjoy cusomter interfacting, it can be a very nice and fun career. You get to experience and learn a lot from various career field as you work with diverse functional team from sales/marketing to different fields of engineering. I would say that it is really important to build up your technical knowledge as you are going to contribute a lot on the technical path and sales of one's company. I highly recommened having a strong interest in technology in your interested field. I personally think that It would be nice to start your career path from a Engineer and start to seek your interest in sales/marketing!
