당국자들은 이전에 8월 재개를 발표했으며, 7월 4일 재개가 가능해져 경제재개의 타임라인이 빨라질 것이라는 희망을 갖게 되었다. 이번 주 화요일 LA 카운티의 모든 애완동물 미용 및 훈련 사업은 세차장과 함께 즉시 서비스를 재개할 수 있었다.

 

카운티의 일일 코로나 브리핑에서 힐다 솔리스 감독관과 공중 보건 책임자 바바라 페러는 7월 4일 날짜가 단지 목표라고 강조했지만 거주자들이 지속적인 재택 제한에 지치면서 더 빠른 시일내에 경제를 재개하는 것이 최종 목표라고 했다.

LA 카운티가 또 다른 76명의 코로나 사망자를 발표했을때 코로나의 지속적인 위험은 계속됐다. 사망자 중 3명이 월요일 롱비치와 패서디나의 보건 당국자들에 의해 발표되었지만, 이 수치는 여전히 팬데믹 중에 발표된 사망자 수가 가장 많은 일일 증가중 하나였다.

 

LA 카운티의 코로나 사망자는 총 1,913명이며 1,183명의 새로운 확진자가 발표되어 현재까지 카운티의 확진자는 39,573명이다.

뉴섬 주지사는 월요일 각 카운티가 지역 경제의 더 많은 부문을 재개하기 위해 총족해야 하는 완화된 기준을 발표했지만 주 전체의 절반 정도를 차지하는 상대적으로 높은 지역 사망자 및 확진자 수(주의 절반)를 감안할때 LA 카운티는 경제 재개를 위한 기준에 미치지 못하고 있다.

 

페러는 카운티가 7월 4일이라는 목표 날짜를 정하는 것이 대부분의 경제를 재개하는데 도움이 되겠지만 주민들이 코로나의 확산을 늦추기 위해 계속 노력할 필요성을 강조했다.

Coronavirus: Officials aim for 'safe reopening' of Los Angeles County as early as July 4

Officials announced Tuesday they are aiming for a "safe reopening" of Los Angeles County as early as July 4.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger expressed a goal for reopening on July 4 during a meeting with the Los Angeles County Economic Resiliency Task Force - a collection of elected officials and business leaders assembled to recommend steps for creating jobs and returning the county to full employment.

 

Officials previously announced an August reopening, with the possible July 4 reopening offering a glimmer of hope for an accelerated timeline.

 

All pet grooming and training businesses, along with car washes, are allowed to resume services effective immediately.

At the county's daily coronavirus briefing, Supervisor Hilda Solis and public health director Barbara Ferrer tried to stress that the July 4 date is just a goal, but the mission is to reopen the economy sooner than later, recognizing that residents are growing weary of continued stay-at-home restrictions. But unless people stick to the restrictions, reopening the county will take longer, they said.

 

"That (date) is a goal, but we have to get there, and we have to do it by measurement, we have to do it by scientific evidence and data and making sure everybody is adhering to the public health order,'' Solis said. "And I can tell you as one supervisor, I have a great deal of concern that some people are not listening to that message.''

 

The continuing danger of the virus was driven home when the county announced another 76 deaths from coronavirus. Although three of those deaths had actually been announced Monday by health officials in Long Beach and Pasadena, the figure was still one of the highest daily increases in deaths announced during the pandemic.

 

The deaths lifted the county's overall total to 1,913. The county also announced another 1,183 new coronavirus cases, giving the county an overall total of 39,573.

 

Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday announced relaxed standards that individual counties need to meet to reopen more sectors of their local economy, but given the relatively high local number of cases and deaths - representing about half of the statewide total - Los Angeles County is far short of meeting any of them.

 

Ferrer said it's helpful for the county to set a July 4 target date for reopening the bulk of the local economy, but again stressed the need for residents to continue working to slow the spread of COVID-19.
